The Canberra Raiders will wear specially designed Golden jerseys this weekend when they take on the Cowboys at GIO Stadium, to help launch the new Huawei Ascend G6 smartphone and help raise money for cancer research.
These jerseys are a one off item and will be worn on Sunday afternoon by the Raiders NRL team, before being auctioned off through www.allbids.com.au with the proceeds going towards Huawei’s partner charity, Tour de Cure.
The jersey will feature the Huawei brand including the name of their new Ascend G6 smartphone, which will be launched in Australia next month.
Canberra Raiders forward Shaun Fensom said the Raiders were looking forward to helping raise plenty of money through the online auction of the jerseys and said the Raiders would also be representing the traditional ACT colours this weekend.
“These jerseys are the chance for the Raiders and Huawei to raise money for Cancer Research through the Tour de Cure and we’re hoping we can get a big win at home so we can raise plenty of money,” Fensom said. “The jersey is a changeup from our usual strip, but we get to keep the Raiders and ACT’s traditional colours, which is great for our fans.”
Huawei Australia Corporate Affairs director, Jeremy Mitchell said it was a golden opportunity to promote our new handset.
“We’re thrilled the Raiders have been willing to try something different to help us promote our exciting new Ascend G6 smartphone and also raise money for cancer research,” Mr Mitchell said. “With a state of the art 5MP front facing camera and 88° wide-angle lens, this smartphone really is the ‘selfie’ king.’
The Auction of the jerseys will be live on www.allbids.com.au on Monday May 26. More details of the auction will be released later this week.
