The Raiders have received huge news as they continue their push for a shot at the 2017 NRL Finals, with Captain Jarrod Croker agreeing to a new deal which will keep him at the club until the end of 2020.
Croker is already on contract with the Green Machine until the end of the 2018 season, but has extended his deal for a further two seasons.
The inspirational Raiders Captain continues to set new point-scoring records for the club and passed through the 200 NRL match mark earlier this season. He is on track to become one of the most capped players in the club’s history and at the age of just 26 could challenge some of the NRL’s records before his career finishes.
Croker said he’s thrilled to remain in Canberra as Captain of the club he loves and said he’s looking forward to a strong finish to the season and then building into the next three years.
“I’m a proud Raider and to re-sign at the club is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Croker said. “We’ve got a wonderful group of players and coaches here who I believe have the talent to win a premiership and I’m looking forward to being a part of that.
“We’ve still got the opportunity to play finals footy this year which is exciting and I know the teams focused on winning the last four games of the season and playing in the finals.”
Raiders CEO Don Furner said the re-signing of Croker was an easy decision and the club are excited about having the Captain remain with the team for the long-term.
“Re-signing Jarrod was an easy decision for us as he’s an extremely valuable asset both on and off the field,” Furner said. “He’s setting records at the club which may never be broken and we know he’s the right player to lead the team into the future. As Captain, he continues to impress us with his leadership of the team and we know he commands the respect of his peers and the club’s members and supporter base.”
