Fearless Women
Girls in the ACT experience higher levels of psychological distress than any other group in Australia.
59% of young women in the ACT are concerned with their mental health and see it a barrier to achieving their personal and career goals.
After extensive research, and engagement with girls and young women in the ACT, in mid-2022, Fearless Women introduced a Mentor program for girls aged 10 to 25 who are unable to meet the challenges of everyday life.
They are paired with a non-judgmental volunteer female mentor who offers guidance and advice.
During the 2-year program girls learn about themselves and their world; they experience positive social interactions and grow in confidence, courage, resiliency and hope.
Currently 72 young women are participating in the Mentor program. Fearless Women also delivers two education programs to girls in Year 5 to 10.
"Fearless Future' is a foundation well-being session while 'Let's Talk About...' is an eight-module program that helps girls explore and understand relationships, their emotions, core values, strengths, and how to create boundaries and build resilience.
