Sam Williams enjoyed a very successful year returning to the Raiders after a year away playing league in the south of France. A former promising junior for the Raiders, Williams proved his long term worth to the Raiders taking part in 16 games.
Mitch Cornish was given the nod over Williams for the earlier rounds of 2015, with Williams starting his season in Round Five. Williams’ season was further disrupted with two bouts of injuries, a collapsed lung in Round Nine and a pectoral tear in Round 18. In a sign of Williams’ toughness he returned from both injuries ahead of schedule, slotting straight back into the starting team.
The Raiders benefitted enormously when Williams started, as he proved in 2015 he is a marvellous on-field tactician, blessed with an outstanding kicking and passing game.

William’s goal for 2016 is to secure the number seven jersey, facing tough competition from new recruit Aidan Sezer. 2015 proved his toughness and never say die attitude, which will turn the friendly contest between him and Sezer in 2016 into a key talking point.
