Round two of the Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup kicks off with a meeting of round one winners at the Workers Arena, with Goulburn hosting West Belconnen. After crushing fellow Belconnen side the Sharks in round one, the Warriors will be wary coming up against a Bulldogs side that saw off the Tuggeranong Bushrangers 24-16 last week.
Round two also throws up the season’s first Queanbeyan derby, and the match of the round, with the Blues meeting the Kangaroos at Seiffert Oval. After having the bye in round one, the Kangaroos will be raring to get their 2016 season started with a win against their local rivals, while the Blues enter the contest following their impressive first round win over the Gungahlin Bulls.
Another side looking to make it two wins from two starts will be the Woden Valley Rams, who host the Belconnen Sharks in Phillip. The Sharks will no doubt be keen to bounce back from their 38-4 opening round loss to the Warriors, but will find the going tough against a Rams side that impressed in beating the Yass Magpies 36-18 last week.
Finally, two sides that tasted defeat in the opening round, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin meet at Greenway to close out round two, while Yass have the bye.
