The Canberra Raiders have pushed past the 7000 member mark for the 2017 season and are on track to set another membership record, after they reached 15,000 members for the first time in 2016.

The current membership tally is 7,913 members for 2017, which includes over 1000 new members who have signed up on the back of a successful campaign in 2016, which saw the Raiders finish second on the NRL ladder and make the Preliminary Final.

The Raiders are aiming to reach 16,500 members in 2017, with a focus to reach 20,000 members by the end of 2018. The Raiders membership tally will be updated weekly on their dedicated membership site www.weareraiders.com.au

Raiders CEO Don Furner said the membership sign-ups for 2017 had been extremely encouraging and said the teams form and match day experience during would hopefully convert casual attendees into members of the club.

“There’s no doubt the team’s performance during 2016 has encouraged a number of casual supporters to sign up for membership for 2017,” Furner said. “The atmosphere at GIO Stadium for the second half of the season and the finals was some of the best I’ve witnessed, with the Viking Clap a huge highlight and valued addition to our match day experience.”

“We are encouraging those people who came along to experience the teams NRL finals campaign to sign up and become members in 2017, with a goal to reach 20,000 members by 2018.”

Membership packages for new and renewing members are available now at www.weareraiders.com.au with members who sign up now still eligible to receive the special 35th year commemorative pin (while stocks last).
