The ‘Coal Train’ was a popular figure amongst the playing group and the supporters in what was a brief but successful stint for the green machine in 2017.

Taylor made his Raiders debut in Rd 3 against the Wests Tigers at GIO Stadium as he played 36 minutes in the 46-6 thrashing of the joint venture side.

His next game was also at home in the 30-18 win over the Parramatta Eels. Unfortunately for the ‘Coal Train’ he suffered an unfortunate run of injuries which hampered his chances towards the middle of the season.

Taylor made his return to the side in Rd 17 at home to the North Queensland Cowboys and continued to make a run of performances whilst becoming a key figure in the Raiders’ forward pack.

The former State of Origin representative’s most memorable performance came in the Raiders’ golden point win over the St George Illawarra Dragons at GIO Stadium in Round 19 when Taylor made a strong run towards the try line in which he then offloaded for Elliott Whitehead to score the match winning try.

Other notable performances from Taylor include the 32-18 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium and also the Raiders’ narrow 26-22 loss to the Penrith Panthers at GIO Stadium.
