Raiders Unveil Valkyrie Brand

The Canberra Raiders have unveiled the 2018 Junior Representative jersey which features the newly developed Valkyrie brand that will run across the club's female engagement activities.

The jersey which will be worn by the Canberra Raiders teams in the Harold Matthews Cup, S.G. Ball Cup and Tarsha Gale Cup, highlights the importance that the club places on creating equal opportunity for both men and women to play rugby league.

“The addition of the Valkyrie is one that was made after extensive research with our female fan base,” said Canberra Raiders Commercial and Marketing Manager, Jason Mathie. “The fact our junior boys and girls will both be displaying the Valkyrie and Viking head on their jerseys highlights the equal opportunity the Raiders are providing.”

The newly developed Raiders Valkyrie brand effectively is an extension of the clubs current logo that has been in effect since 2000.

All three Junior Representative sides will be in action at Raiders Belconnen this Saturday including the Under 18 Girls side competing in the Tarsha Gale Cup.

Having coached the side during the inaugural Tarsha Gale Cup season last year, Matt Corkery believes his side are shaping up well for the upcoming season.

“The girls are really excited and are progressing really well,” Corkery said.

“We intend to make the finals this year, the girls have that in their mindset. We all have a common goal, so that’s what we’re striving for.”
