Heartbreak at the death for Raiders
By the numbers is back for 2018 as the Canberra Raiders kicked off their 2018 season last night.
Round one started off in frantic fashion for the green machine as they faced the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium.
The Raiders only enjoyed 40% possession with the football last night with a total time of 28:27 with the ball in hand. The Titans had the edge over the Raiders in completion rate as they conjured up 74% compared to the green machine’s 69%.
In attack the Raiders managed 125 runs in total with 1,223 running metres from it. The home side mustered up 169 runs with 1,573 running metres. Shannon Boyd completed the most running metres for the Raiders with 149.
Canberra were able to make a total of six line breaks which was double more than the Titans three. The green machine also completed 46 tackles breaks whilst the Gold Coast completed 36. The Titans however completed a stunning 15 offloads whereas the Raiders could only conjure up three.
In defence the Raiders made a massive 340 tackles compared to the Titans 243. Elliott Whitehead made the most for the green machine with 38. The Raiders only had 36 missed tackles compared to the Gold Coast’s 46.
Coach Ricky Stuart won’t be pleased with the amount of errors the Raiders had as they made 12 throughout the match compared to the Titans 10. A positive for Stuart’s troops was that they only conceded four penalties. The Titans conceded seven.
