Canberra Raiders Major Sponsor Huawei, continues to show their community support all year round, with the implementation in 2018 of the Huawei Super Squad.
The Huawei Super Squad is a group of young Canberrans, who come together at every Raiders home match to help set up the Stadium for home games. The group comes from right across the Canberra Community and is made up from a vibrant and diverse range of passionate Raiders fans with a varying range of disabilities including Autism.
The squad is tasked with making sure the Raiders are best prepared to take on their opponents each week, by making sure the changerooms, members lounges, business lounge, forecourt activations and coaches boxes are all set up and ready for action come game day. They also make sure the Huawei Viking horn is in position and ready to go for when the team runs out onto GIO Stadium.
The Huawei Super squad had the opportunity to come together with the team at a recent Captain's run and took some time out with the squad to watch training and then meet the players after the match.
Raiders Game Day and Events Manager Tayla Shields said the Huawei Super Squad was a vital part of Raiders gamedays and the club was grateful Huawei had come on board to support the initiative.
"Along with our club volunteers, the Huawei Super Squad are a vital part of making sure our gamedays are a success," Ms Shields said. "The Super squad turn up each home game and help with enthusiasm and a most importantly a smile on their face. Thanks to Huawei we've been able to provide them uniforms to feel part of the team and we've got a special surprise for them ahead of the match against the Roosters later in the season."
The Raiders will play the Roosters in round 23 on Sunday August 19 to help spread the message of #AutismWellbeing thanks to Huawei. You can support the initiative by purchasing an Autism awareness jersey with ISC donating 10% of sales to the Ricky Stuart Foundation.
