Renowned British golfer Dame Laura Davies has joined the Canberra Raiders family after becoming a member of the club.
After meeting Ricky Stuart last year at a golf event, Davies has quickly become an avid fan of the club.
“I’ve never been a massive rugby league follower but ever since I realised what he did here and what the team does for the community I thought I’d start following them,” Davies said.
Davies, who easily has the most wins on the Ladies European Tour, has been making the effort to watch the team play despite the time difference.
“The games come on really early at home – about 4 o’clock on the morning or 6:30 in the morning,” Davies. “It’s not always the Raiders that are televised but if they are playing I’ll make the effort to wake up and watch the team play.
“Last year was a 50/50 kind of year but hopefully this year will be a lot better.”
