The Canberra Raiders’ Jersey Flegg team will be hoping to continue their winning form during this week’s triple header when they host the New Zealand Warriors at GIO Stadium midday on Sunday.
The team had a convincing win over the Parramatta Eels last week, winning 30-12 with five-eighth Jarrett Subloo dominating the match with two tries and a 100% conversion rate.
The Warriors will be looking for their second win of the season after going down to the South Sydney Rabbitohs 34-26.
Raiders coach Ash Barnes said that it was a very satisfying win, being impressed with the sides efforts defensively but knows that they’ll have to be on their toes this weekend again.
“The commitment we showed to hold our line continuously was really good,” said Barnes. “It was a tough game with a few bumps and bruises… I’m really happy with the competitiveness they’ve shown.”
Raiders on the road to better Wellbeing
Barnes has also been impressed with the rapid development of playmaker Jarrett Subloo, with his performances throughout the season so far helping the Raiders immensely.
“He’s made the transition from fullback to five-eighth this season really well,” said Barnes. “When he’s working really hard at his game, and has been growing with each week… but he knows he has a lot to work on.”
The Canberra Raiders have named an unchanged line-up, and will head into the match with the possibility to go second on the ladder early on in the season.
