The Canberra Raiders’ Jersey Flegg side will continue to push for a top four spot when they play the second-placed Sydney Roosters this Saturday afternoon at Seiffert Oval.
The Raiders currently are in seventh place on the ladder but only sit three points behind first place.
The Raiders head into the match off the back of a 34-16 win over the Warriors, with Green Machine forward Tom Robertson bagging a brace to inspire a victory.
The Roosters will be looking to bounce back after suffering a 22-12 defeat to the Knights in Round 20.
Raiders coach Ash Barnes couldn’t have been happier of the teams efforts on the weekend with the competition being “really close”.
“It’s a really tough competition,” said Barnes. “You definitely have to turn up and play your best football… the boys have really grown and improved this year.”
Barnes also said he’s impressed by the way his team has been able to adapt to the game and understand the style of football that best suits them.
“We’ve had a lot of players come on a long way this year,” said Barnes. “Our best football is still in front of us.”
Coming into the final stages as well, Barnes said the main focus is to “keep working towards our own standards”.
“That’s the thing that drives our team,” said Barnes. “It’s maintaining those goals and standards, and keep working towards those every week.”
The Raiders will be hoping to continue their dominant form heading into the latter stages of the season and will be looking for a win over the Sydney Roosters this Saturday, with the game kicking off at 3:00pm at Seiffert Oval.
