Blumers Lawyers CRC Round 17 Preview

There is plenty at stake with two rounds remaining as the Queanbeyan Kangaroos hope to secure finals football, while their opponents chase the minor premiership in the Match of the Round.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos v Tuggeranong Bushrangers
3pm, Saturday August 10 – Greenway

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos will be looking to complete their incredible resurgence in the second half of the season as they try and secure their place in the finals.

After a sluggish start to the year, the Kangaroos have won five of their last six games to move into fourth place while also boasting the best defensive record in the competition.

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers will be looking to secure their second minor premiership only a year after securing their maiden title.

The Bushrangers claimed a 28-16 win when these two sides clashed back in Round 9.

Woden Valley Rams v Queanbeyan Blues
3pm, Saturday August 10 – Phillip District

The Woden Valley Rams will play their final home game of the season as they look to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

The defending premiers are currently sitting in sixth place, three points behind the Queanbeyan Kangaroos.

The Queanbeyan Blues, on the other hand, still have hopes of claiming the minor premiership and will be looking to keep the pressure on Tuggeranong, while also fending off Goulburn in the race for second.

The Blues claimed a 24-16 win the last time these two sides played.

Yass Magpies v West Belconnen Warriors
3pm, Saturday August 10 – Walker Park

The Yass Magpies host the West Belconnen Warriors in their final match of their centenary season.

After a disappointing season to date, the Magpies have a chance to move off the bottom of the ladder by the season’s end if they are able to claim a win and other results are in their favour.

The West Belconnen Warriors are still holding on to their slim finals chances after claiming consecutive wins.

The side are currently three points behind the Queanbeyan Kangaroos and need the Kangaroos to lose their final two matches if they are to participate in finals football.

The Warriors won the corresponding fixture earlier in the season 30-12.

Belconnen United Sharks v Gungahlin Bulls
3pm, Saturday August 10 – O’Connor

The Belconnen United Sharks will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s derby defeat as they host the Gungahlin Bulls at O’Connor.

After one win in two seasons, the Sharks will be hoping to claim their sixth win of the 2019 season.

The Gungahlin Bulls will be hoping for an improved performance after they were beaten 54-0 against the Kangaroos last weekend.

The last time these two sides faced each other, the Sharks claimed a 44-28 win.
