Raiders claim narrow win in Port Macquarie

The Canberra Raiders have claimed a 12-10 win against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Port Macquarie.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the match when Jake Averillo scored out wide on the back of a cut out pass from Will Hopoate.

Dylan Napa extended the Bulldogs lead when scored under the posts after back to back sets.

From there the match turned into an arm-wrestle as the Raiders seized the moment in the 25th minute.

Joe Tapine broke through the Bulldogs defence and managed to offload to Josh Papalii. With the defence closing in, the prop found Jack Wighton who scored.

The sides went into the break with the score 10-6 in favour of the Bulldogs

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad pulled off a try saver when the fullback smothered a Jayden Okunbor kick as he tried to find support.

With close to 20 minutes remaining, Ricky Stuart made plenty of changes with 12 changes being made.

The Raiders continued to mount pressure on the Bulldogs and finally found a way through when Sam Williams sliced through the defence to score and give the Green Machine the lead for the first time.
