Despite claiming a 30-12 victory against the Tigers, Raiders’ fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad believes that the team’s opening round performance was far from perfect.
“We were nowhere near where we wanted to be, and nowhere near our best,” Nicoll-Klokstad said.
The fullback wants the Raiders’ to get back to basics before this weeks game against the Sharks.
“For us, it’s just about holding the ball and for starters and getting to the end of our sets,” Nicoll-Klokstad said.
While he was proud of the team’s defence, he says having a better attack will take the pressure off the team to defend so much.
“That’s our backbone our defence and it’s something that we really pride ourselves on,” Nicoll-Klokstad said. “It’s a lot easier if we can look after the attack so we don’t have to defend as well.”
Raiders duo appreciate extra pronunciation effort
Nicoll-Klokstad had a standout individual performance against the Tigers with 210 running meters and scoring a late try to seal the win.
The Raiders will have to prepare for a fast start against the Sharks, who are coming off a strong performance against the Dragons.
“They’re going to look to come ready to play a big game and they always start fast,” Nicoll-Klokstad said. “It’s going to be a great game an exciting game. Everyone is excited.”
