The Belconnen United Sharks will be looking to improve on their 2019 season this year, with some exciting youngsters coming through as well as experienced players leading from the front.
The Sharks pre-season started in early January, with the team training at their new facility, NSWRL HQ - the old Raiders facility in Bruce. The Sharks home games will also be held there this season.
Belconnen United lost a number of key players over the COVID-19 period, which is going to test their squad depth.
Scott Logan returns as First Grade coach, with Jimmy Dale coming on board as a new strength and conditioning coach.
The pre-season effort has been solid under Dale, who’s been getting a lot of kilometres in the player’s legs.
The team had their only trial match in Albury last weekend, with a number of good performances and some young guys pushing for first grade spots.
Ex-NRL player Shaun Fensom is back in Sharks colours this season. He will lead with his actions and have a big influence over the younger players.
Sonny Tupuola played in the Monaro Country Championships team this year and will lead the forward pack from the front. Matt Woolnough will also look to step up into a senior role within the team, having been at the club for a couple of seasons. Woolnough played for the UC Stars last year, with the side reaching the reserve grade grand final. Visit the new CRRL website here, or by clicking on CRRL in the side menu under Community
