The Canberra Region Rugby League (CRRL) has been monitoring the changing situation around the COVID outbreak and lockdown in the Greater Sydney Region.

Our overriding concern is the safety of our players and supporters.

We will follow the prevailing medical advice.

As things currently stand there is no impact on the NSW regional areas and the ACT that the CRRL administers in relation to rugby league.

The situation is very fluid and there are likely to be changes in the medical advice or staging requirements.

The CRRL will continue to liaise with the ACT Chief Health Officer, ACT Sport & Recreation, NSW Health and the NSW Rugby League and adjust our operations to comply with what that prevailing advice will be.

As the CRRL, in all its competitions, operates across borders this does add a layer of complexity when providing advice or managing the competitions.

We ask all our supporters for patience when there are new requirements or advice as the CRRL staff has to assess all the implications and often across multiple jurisdictions.

I also note that due to the fluid situation with outbreaks there may be little notice of a change of circumstance and again we ask for your understanding if this is the situation.

Please find below the link from NSWRL that the CRRL received and it also notes the need for ACT COVID advice to also be assessed.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and allowing the CRRL to collect the advice, assess it and communicate to you.

We will keep you informed as information comes to hand.

Ideally, we would like to stage all matches next weekend (weather permitting) but we will not compromise anyone’s safety and comply with all health advice.

Please Stay Safe everyone.

Mark Vergano, General Manager CRRL
