There are no active cases in the ACT and our latest wastewater results, received today, are negative for COVID-19 fragments in the ACT catchment.

While the situation in NSW is serious, there is no indication the ACT is at immediate risk.

After careful assessment of the current situation, there are also no further changes to ACT travel restrictions at this time.

The ACT Government is constantly monitoring the situation in NSW and our surrounding region in particular. We are continuing to prepare for multiple scenarios should we need to respond to any seeding or potential risk of COVID-19 entering the ACT.

We are ensuring we have the right plans and processes in place to respond appropriately to the unfolding situation. As we continue this planning, we are asking the community to be aware that advice can change at any time and to be prepared for tightening of restrictions.

The ACT will not implement a hard border with NSW. Within our region there are thousands of essential workers who travel to the ACT each day, and thousands of people who rely on the ACT for essential goods and services.

In the event of tightening restrictions in the ACT, we will work closely with surrounding communities to ensure people travelling within the local region understand clearly what requirements are in place and how any new restrictions or requirements affect them.

At this time, we are asking all Canberrans to reconsider the need for non-essential travel. This will help to minimise the risk of COVID-19 entering the ACT.

Continue to practise COVID safe behaviours to protect the ACT from COVID-19. Stay home if unwell, get tested if you have symptoms no matter how mild, use the Check In CBR app when out and about, and be sure to practise good hand and respiratory hygiene.
