Two of the Capitals biggest brands have joined forces to recognise the effort of local hero Ken Behrens ahead of Friday night’s match against the Sea Eagles in Brisbane.
With thousands of locals doing their part across the ACT to make sure they stay safe during the current lockdown, the Canberra Raiders and Canberra Milk have decided to change their names to salute the hero of home quarantine Ken Behrens.
For the match on Friday, the iconic Canberra Milk logo on the Raiders playing strip will Change to Ken Behrens Milk, while the Raiders will be known as the Ken Behren Raiders.
The Raiders have also made Ken Behrens the Raiders Viking Ambassador for the night, with the King of doing the right thing offered the opportunity to sneak into GIO Stadium and blow the Viking horn before the Raiders run onto the field in Brisbane via Zoom.
However, in true Ken Behrens brilliance, the Sage of social distancing declined the offer and said he couldn’t fit the round trip to Bruce inside his one hour of exercise for the day, and instead would tune into the tube to watch the Green Machine against Manly.
Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart paid special tribute to Ken Behrens and said the team would be doing all they could on Friday night to put a smile on the faces of those in lockdown.
“We’ve been keeping a close eye on the situation back home and we want all of the ACT to know we are thinking of them at the moment,” Stuart said. “To Ken and all Ken Behrens, we want to send our best wishes to you all and hope we can deliver some joy to you on Friday night.”
The Raiders also made enquiries to see if Ken Behrens would be available to make a late dash to Suncorp to be part of the squad for the match, but once again Ken declined the offer, with the Messiah of mask wearing highlighting that a plane trip to Brisbane definitely didn’t fit into one of the five reasons to leave home at the moment.
Thankyou for reading this far down! Obviously, we’re just trying to keep some spirits up during the current lockdown by having some fun, but the Raiders and Canberra Milk wish everyone in the ACT all the best during this challenging time.
We encourage all Ken Behrens to continue to do their bit during the lockdown and continue to follow the advice of the ACT Government. Stay safe and Up The Milk!
