Round one of the 2022 Andrew Johns Cup and Laurie Daley Cup competitions kicked off over the weekend, with both Monaro Colts sides recording wins.
Andrew Johns Cup
The Monaro Colts kicked off their campaign with a tight 20-16 win over the Riverina Bulls at McLean Oval on Sunday.
The Colts started the game strongly, jumping to a 16-0 lead after 26 minutes with tries to Brady Smith, Archie Duncombe and Alex Hardy.
Riverina made a comeback in the second half, scoring three straight tries to level the scores at 16-16.
Monaro winger Zac Warner scored the match-winning try with four minutes of the match remaining to seal the win for his side.
Laurie Daley Cup
The Colts produced a 26-24 come from behind victory over the Riverina Bulls at McLean Oval on Sunday.
Monaro lead 12-0 early in the match, with tries to Jack Anderson and Regan Carr.
Riverina bounced back and scored four straight tries to lead 24-12 after 30 minutes.
Monaro's Carr scored two more tries, bringing his total of the game to three and the score 24-20 to Riverina.
Colts hooker Anderson scored to level the scores at 24-24 before Jesse Eljuga successfully kicked the conversion to claim a 26-24 win.
Both Colts sides take on the NMR Knights next weekend.
