The Tuggeranong Bushrangers have had an incredible off-season retaining some core talent as well as signing former NRL players Zac Saddler from the Manly Sea Eagles, and Darby Medlyn from the Canberra Raiders.
The Bushrangers finished in eighth place last year showing glimpses of brilliance but with the addition of Saddler and Medlyn, the Bushrangers are far from disgraced heading into the 2022 season.
Star signing Saddler spoke to CRRL media about the Bushrangers’ preseason and focus on making a finals run this season.
“The preseason's been going good. I’m a bit of a larrikin but I think the standard of training this year has really improved. Myself and Darby [Medlyn] bring a bit of NRL experience, we’re young heads but I think with the local boys here we’ll be really competitive,” Saddler said.
We’ll take it one week at a time but our main goal is to win the first premiership for the Bushies. I was their first hand when they got beat in that grand final a few years back, and I know how sad they were about that. The talk around the club is really positive and as I said, they haven’t won one yet and it would be really special if we were to do that.”
Tuggeranong KFS representative Ahlivia Ingram spoke upon their preparations towards a successful 2022 campaign.
“Preseason's been really good. We’ve been getting really good numbers. We’ve had some girls in and out with Tarsha Gale but it’s been really exciting,” Ingram said.
“I’m looking forward at just getting back out there. I feel like I haven’t played footy in ages. I just want to get out there and get a hit on,” Ingram added.
LLT player Faith McCullough also talked about her Tuggeranong Bushrangers and their excitement towards competing for a LLT premiership this year.
“We have a really good team environment. What we’ve been practicing lately, I just can’t wait to see how that really works out on the field,” McCullough said.
The Bushrangers will host the Queanbeyan Kangaroos in a huge round one clash to kick-off their 2022 campaign at Greenway Oval on Saturday April 2nd.
