NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 16 Preview

The Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides take on the St George Illawarra Dragons this Sunday in round 16 action.

The NSW Cup side will be looking to continue their run of form when they face the Dragons at WIN Stadium in Wollongong on Sunday.

The Raiders have won their last three games including impressive victories over the Newtown Jets and Penrith Panthers, who both sit inside the top four.

The green machine currently sit in sixth place on the ladder, and will want to keep their spot firmly in the top eight with a win this weekend.

There have been a couple of changes to the side ahead of Sunday's clash with the Dragons. Utuloa Asomua returns to the side on the wing, after a great performance in the Under 19s origin match last weekend where he scored a double for NSW.

Matt Frawley will partner Brad Schneider in the halves, with Joshua James dropping back to the bench.

Peter Hola will start as prop and Trey Mooney comes back into the side in the second row.

Albert Hopoate has been named on the wing again, and will be looking to back up his stellar performance against the Knights in round 15. Hopoate scored four tries, ran for 266 metres and recorded three linebreaks and seven tackle breaks.

The Raiders take on Dragons side with plenty of NRL experience and many danger players across the park, including Tyrell Sloan, Jonathon Reuben, George Burgess and Max Feagai.

The battle between the backrow will be a big one in this game, with Corey Harawira-Naera, Harry Rushton and Trey Mooney coming up against Jack Gosiewski, Jackson Ford and Tyrell Fuimaono.

Gosiewski had a great performance last round, with 134 run metres, 41 post contact metres, a try assist, three tackle breaks and a line-break assist.

St George Illawarra suffered a last minute 41-40 loss to the Mounties last round, so will want to bounce back this weekend.

The Dragons currently sit in eight spot on the ladder, six points behind the Raiders.

The clash will kick off at 1:40pm at WIN Stadium in Wollongong before the Raiders v Dragons NRL match at 4pm.
