Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 13 Preview

The Katrina Fanning Shield enters the second last round of the regular season, with some crucial matches that will have a big say on where teams finish on the competition ladder.

South Coast United v Tuggeranong Bushrangers, Mackay Park, Saturday 6th August 12:30pm.

The battle for fifth spot could be decided this weekend when fifth-placed South Coast United host the sixth-placed Tuggeranong Bushrangers.

Both sides will be hungry to grab the final spot in the top five before the competition splits off for the finals.

United currently sit two points above the Bushrangers on the competition ladder and sit with a better for and against.

United will be hoping to secure that fifth spot this weekend as a win would cement a finals birth in their debut season in the KFS.

This game is a must win for the Bushrangers and they will be well rested after having a bye last weekend.

If the Bushrangers can win this Saturday then it will tie them with United on 10 competition points.

It will be a finals preview this Saturday as both sides will sure to be playing with a finals intensity as their respective season's are on the line.

Harden Worhawks v Goulburn City Bulldogs, McLean Oval, Saturday 6th August 1:00pm.

The Worhawks will be hoping to create some momentum going into their finals campaign, when they host the Bulldogs who are still hunting for second position on the ladder.

The Worhawks remain with just the one win in 2022, despite showing great signs against some of the competition heavyweights this season.

However the Worhawks will be more desperate than ever before, after conceding 70 points in two of their past three matches.

The Bulldogs will see this as a great chance to regain second spot on the ladder and improve their for and against, as they battle out second position with the Rams.

However, the Bulldogs won't want to look too far ahead as the Worhawks will be hungry to bounce back at home.

Boomanulla Raiders v Queanbeyan Blues, Boomanulla Oval, Saturday 6th August 1:10pm.

The Raiders still remain without a win in 2022 but will be hoping to get that monkey off their back before finals.

The Raiders are already locked in for the minor semi-final but can still secure eighth place with two wins in their final two games.

However, it will be a huge task for them as the Blues are still in the hunt for second on the ladder.

The Blues have been in superb form, beating the Stars by 60 and 72 points respectively in their past two matches.

The Blues will face the Bulldogs next weekend and with the second best for and against in the competition.

Queanbeyan will be expecting to put on another great performance and secure their eighth win of the season, but the home crowd won't make it easy for them against a desperate Raiders side.

UC Stars v Yass Magpies, Raiders Belconnen, Saturday 6th August 1:15pm.

The Stars will be hoping to finally break a seven game losing streak but it will be a huge ask as they host the Magpies.

The Stars started the season with two wins and two losses but have not earned a victory since and now find themselves seventh on the ladder.

Although UC are no longer in the hunt for a top five finish, they can still look to improve their position on the ladder heading into the bottom four play-off in a few weeks.

The Stars can still finish sixth which would allow them to host the major semi final, but won't want to fall to eighth place which would see them play in an elimination match in the first week of finals.

The Magpies have played with a target on their back all season and have passed every challenge in front of them, but there will be added pressure this weekend with the undefeated season just one win away.
