Canberra to host the Australian Masters Games in 2025

West Belconnen Warriors' Bobby Roberts and CRRL General Manager, Mark Vergano, were in attendance for Monday afternoon's announcement that the 2025 Australian Masters Games will be held in Canberra.

The eight-day sporting event is expected attract thousands of participants and spectators to the ACT with over 50 sports available to compete in.

The successful bid will see a huge boost to local business and provide important exposure for regional sport, including rugby league.

ACT Sports Minister Yvette Berry spoke about the opportunity for Canberra to host such an exciting event with a diverse range of sports.

"Hosting the event is an opportunity for us to show off our beautiful city and demonstrate why we have one of the highest sports participation rates in the country," she said.

"Sport participation provides avenues for people to meet, build new friendships, stay physically active and support their overall wellbeing."

The 2025 Australian Masters Games will be the first to feature Rugby League with hope of securing both a men's and women's competition.
