NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Preview: Round Nine

Both the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams are back in action this weekend at McDonalds Park in Wagga Wagga for a triple header, with all three of the Raiders sides playing on Saturday.

NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup side are coming off the back of a two-point win against the Dragons in their round seven clash and will be looking to continue their form when they take on the Rabbitohs this Saturday.

The Raiders have made some changes to their team for this weekend’s clash.

Ata Mariota returns to the side after suffering a broken hand back in round two, with Harley Smith-Shields, Jordan Martin, and Semi Valemei all back in as well.

James Schiller has been named as 18th man for the Raiders NRL side so has not been named in the Cup team this week.

The team will also be looking to utilise Xavier Savage who is sliding into the fullback position after playing at wing in the last game win against the Dragons.

The Raiders are currently sitting in seventh position on the ladder on equal points with the Panthers, who are in fifth spot.

The Raiders are coming up against the Rabbitohs who are in 12th position only sitting on six points.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have also had a couple of changes to their side after their two-point win over the Penrith Panthers last week.

Daniel Suluka-Fifita and Tom Carr come into the side replacing Hugo Patterson, Leonard Skelton, and Tristan Alvarado.

The curtain raiser will kick off at 12.40 pm which will be followed by the NRL game with the Raiders up against the Dolphins at 3pm.

Jersey Flegg

The Jersey Flegg Raiders will face the Rabbitohs this weekend after going down to the Manly Sea Eagles in round seven.

The Raiders side has only won one game so far which was in round one against the Parramatta Eels.

The team will be heading into the game this weekend with one change to their side since their round seven loss, with Loghan Lewis coming in with Jermaine Pangai out.

Meanwhile the opposition in the South Sydney Rabbitohs has a few changes to their side after their 24-24 draw last week against the Penrith Panthers.

The Rabbitohs have Dranza Hawe-De-Thierry, Jude Saldanha and Samuel Jinks coming into the side for Charles Vaka, Etuate Laui and James Kokkinos who have not been named.

The Raiders are still unfortunately sitting on the bottom of the ladder in 12th position, while the Rabbitohs are currently sitting in fifth position on equal points to the Panthers in fourth position.

The clash will kick off as the first game of the triple-header on Saturday in Wagga Wagga at 11am.
