Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 3 Wrap

After a wet-weather weekend of footy, the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup ladder remains tight after a huge round of action.

Yass Magpies 30 d Gungahlin Bulls 10

Both sides were headed into this one without a win on the season, but it was Yass who turned up with their best performance of the season in-front of the Walker Park faithful to collect the two points.

Yass fullback Bayley Maher was awarded man of the match after an incredible individual performance from the back as he cut the Bulls' edge defence to pieces.

Gungahlin didn't handle the wet conditions as they would've prepared but must put it behind them as they take on Woden in a crucial game for their season this Saturday.

This win for Yass gives them some important momentum coming into a clash with the competition leaders, Queanbeyan Kangaroos this Saturday.

West Belconnen Warriors 16 d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 4

West Belconnen have begun their CRC campaign toward back to back premierships in the perfect way, making it two from two on the weekend with a good win over Tuggeranong.

It was a first half grind between the two premiership heavyweights, with only a try a piece being the difference between the two sides.

Warriors' centre Kane Rushton was the first to go over with an incredible first half try before he opened the scoring again in the second with a 100 metre intercept try.

Westies put the nail in the coffin with a final try to right-winger Leonaitasi Tuionetoa to secure the two points.

The Warriors will return home against Goulburn while the Bushies will travel to take on the Sharks.

Belconnen United Sharks 28 d Queanbeyan Blues 10

The Sharks remain undefeated after wracking up a huge win at Seiffert Oval in the rain on Saturday afternoon.

Belconnen jumped out to a healthy 18-nil lead at halftime after a sound performance in the terrible conditions.

The Blues managed to make it a one-score game after back to back tries in the second half off a kick and a dummy-half scoot.

But it wasn't enough to stop the Shark attack as Darcy Leadbitter and Zac Patch both went over for tries to secure the victory on the road.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 20 d Woden Valley Rams 6

A Ron Leapai try-double was enough to get the job done on Saturday in what was Goulburn's first win of the season against the Rams.

In a low scoring affair, the Bulldogs controlled the game from start to finish, taking a commanding 16-nil lead at the break.

Rams' centre Sam Gash went over on debut for a late four-pointer but it was too little too late as Goulburn ran away with a 20-6 victory.

The Rams will turn their attention to Gungahlin when they take on the Bulls Saturday afternoon while Goulburn will return home to take on West Belconnen.
