The first round of action in the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield has come to a close where last season's premiers, the Yass Magpies sit atop the competition ladder.
Goulburn City Bulldogs 6 d West Belconnen Warriors 4
The Goulburn City Bulldogs have come away with a tight two point victory on Saturday, defeating the Warriors 6-4 at Raiders Belconnen.
The Warriors were first to score, through forward Lily Bone who crashed over out of dummy-half in the 10th minute.
Goulburn bounced back through a try off a kick, awarded to Jessica Zammett who dove on a loose ball to claim the four-pointer.
Annika Picker converted to put them up by two, which turned out to be the match winner.
The match was abandoned 23 minutes short due to a player injury.
Queanbeyan Blues 48 d UC Stars 0
The Blues have opened their KFS campaign in great fashion, tackling UC in a big 48-6 victory at Boomanulla Oval.
The reigning Maree Bush Medalist, Payge Louise-Condon played a big part in the sides' win, crossing for a double and converting six tries.
The Stars didn't have too much to cheer for on the scoreboard, but will use these opening rounds to gel new combinations with a number of new recruits at the club.
The Blues will carry this momentum into next weekend's revenge match against Woden, who knocked them out of finals last year.
Yass Magpies 86 d Queanbeyan Kangaroos 0
The Yass Magpies have started their quest toward back-to-back premierships in impressive style, defeating the Roos by 86 points at Seears Workwear Oval on Saturday morning.
Yass fullback Lucy Prosser was one of the many stars in the performance, as the Monaro representative crossed for a hattrick in the big win.
Magpies lock-forward Kaitlyn Andrews converted 11 tries and scored a try of her own, as she tallied up 26 points for the game.
It was a tough introduction to the KFS for the Roos, but will relish the hit-out as the season progresses.
Gungahlin Bulls 46 d Woden Valley Rams 6
The Gungahlin Bulls wracked up a huge win in their debut KFS match, knocking off last year's runners-up, the Woden Valley Rams 46-6 at home.
Bulls' fullback Caitlin Turnbull was incredible for the side, crossing for a hattrick in the club's first victory.
Representative centres pairing Tijana Zdravevska and Klaudia Osztrenkovics were also impressive, both crossing for a try-double.
Round one came at a bad time for Woden, who battled injuries heading into the game.
The Rams will look to bounce back when they return home on Saturday to take on the Blues, while Gungahlin will travel to take on the Bushies at Greenway.
