Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 5 Wrap

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos remain undefeated and sit all alone on top of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup ladder, after an eye-catching round of footy.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 44 d West Belconnen Warriors 6

The Kangaroos put on a second half clinic to put the reigning premiers, West Belconnen down at home on Saturday afternoon.

An early 14-nil lead set up a big performance for the home side, as they produced five second half tries to wrack up their biggest win of the season.

This hands the Warriors their second consecutive loss to place them in the bottom half of the ladder.

The Roos will look to make it five on the trot when they travel to take on the second-placed Sharks this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Warriors will search to snap their losing streak back at home against the Rams on Sunday afternoon.

Belconnen United Sharks 28 d Goulburn City Bulldogs 24

The Sharks bounced back to knock off the Bulldogs 28-24 in a thriller at Workers Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Sharks captain coach Zac Patch and dummy-half Matt Woolnough were instrumental in their side's victory, working tirelessly in the middle for the 80 minutes.

In a see-sawing affair, it was only a late four-pointer to David Williams which was the difference, as the Bulldogs rallied home but fell short.

Goulburn's well-documented halves pairing of the Cornish brothers were outstanding, as the club can take plenty away from Saturday's hard-fought contest.

The Sharks now turn their attention to the competition leaders, Queanbeyan Kangaroos, while the Bulldogs will have a well-deserved rest with the bye.

Gungahlin Bulls 42 d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 16

The Gungahlin Bulls have broken their maiden win for the season, putting a big score on Tuggeranong at Greenway Oval on Saturday.

The Bulls' attack finally clicked on the weekend, as they piled on five second-half tries to jag their very first win of the season.

It was a disappointing display from Tuggeranong, after defeating the second-placed Sharks only a week ago.

Funnily enough, the last time the Bulls had won was against the Bushies in the final round of the 2022 season, where they scored exactly 42 points at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval.

The impact of club debutant Keahn Skipps was known, as the 18 year-old had a blinder at fullback, scoring a try and assisting another for the Bulls.

Gungahlin will try and carry this momentum into their round six clash against the Blues while the Bushies will travel to take on Yass.

Woden Valley Rams 32 d Queanbeyan Blues 16

The Rams have made it two on the bounce, after their big 32-16 victory over the Blues on Saturday.

After a tight opening half, Woden ran away to a comfortable victory, cementing their spot in the top four.

The Blues have had a challenging start to the season, winning only the one game to date after appearing in last year's grand final.

Meaning, next weekend's clash against Gungahlin is a must-win if they wish to stay in touch with the top four.

While the Rams will look to make it three in a row, when they take on West Belconnen on Sunday.
