Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 2 Wrap

Some high scoring matches once again across the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield, as round two action comes to a close.

Gungahlin Bulls 38 def Tuggeranong Bushrangers 12

The Gungahlin Bulls have continued their strong start to the season, imposing themselves amongst the competition heavyweights defeating the Tuggeranong Bushrangers 38-12.

Despite a brace from Nirvana Ngan-Woo, the Bushrangers were unable to fight back against the resilient Bulls.

In their first home game of the season, the Bushrangers will look to put this loss behind them as they play top-of-the-table Yass Magpies next weekend.

Fullback Caitlin Turnbull scored two on the day alongside teammate Jelena Dragila, taking Turnbull tied to the top try scorer for the competition so far.

West Belconnen Warriors 54 def Queanbeyan Kangaroos 6

The West Belconnen Warriors triumph over league newcomers, the Queanbeyan Kangaroos scoring thirteen tries across the 70 minutes.

Taking place in Queanbeyan, the two new sides of the competition clashed but it was the Warriors who proved too strong.

Displaying their class, the Warriors piled on the points thanks to a hat trick from second rower Chioma Enyi and a double from Grace Tai.

This now takes Kangaroos to an 0-2 start to the year, conceding 140 points over the opening rounds.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 28 drew Harden Worhawks 28

The Goulburn City Bulldogs and the Harden Worhawks played out a miraculous draw in Goulburn over the weekend as the final scores ended at 28 apiece.

It was the Worhawks first game of the season, in which they took it to the Bulldogs snatching a point with only 12 players from last year’s preliminary finalists.

Coming off a narrow win last weekend, the draw takes the Bulldogs to fourth on the table where they will play the UC Stars next weekend looking to get back to their winning ways.

Queanbeyan Blues 34 def Woden Valley Rams 12

The Queanbeyan Blues maintain their determined start to the season, winning their second game in as many weeks against the Woden Valley Rams 34-12.

Conceding only twelve points across the opening two rounds, the Blues determination to assert themselves on the competition is high on the agenda.

Felicity Bell was amongst the try scorers, scoring two for the match along with five other individual try scorers for the game.

Last year’s runners-up, the Rams, have gotten off to a slow start losing both of their opening games.

They will need to relinquish their form of last year if they wish to return to their winning ways.
