Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 7 Wrap

There were four convincing winners on the weekend, as the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup ladder starts to take shape after seven rounds of action.

Woden Valley Rams 32 d Belconnen United Sharks 4

The Rams have jumped into the top four after an important victory at home over the Belconnen United Sharks on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tight first half as both sides battled it out early, with the Rams holding a 10-6 lead at the break.

But it was all Woden in the second half as they piled on four tries to close out the game.

Rams youngster Ethan Alaia was a clear standout, scoring a try and setting up two others.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 30 d Gungahlin Bulls 0

The Kangaroos have extended their undefeated streak to six after another impressive performance against Gungahlin on Saturday.

Their defence was once again a highlight, holding a Bulls side to nil after their attack had produced 88 points in their last two weeks.

In what was a key game for the Bulls' season, they can still take plenty away from this clash after jagging two important wins in rounds five and six.

The Roos will now turn their attention to Tuggeranong when they take on a third-placed Bushies side in a top of the table clash this Saturday.

While the Bulls will return home to host the Goulburn City Bulldogs, fresh off a big win over the Blues.

West Belconnen Warriors 48 d Yass Magpies 0

The Warriors have well and truly bounced back from their up and down start to put together their second straight dominant performance, moving into second position on the ladder.

The reigning premiers piled on nine tries including try doubles to Kylan Edwards, Daniel Garner and Tyler Peters.

Yass coach Adam Kyle will be disappointed with their effort at home, succumbing to eighth position on the ladder.

Both sides will have an opportunity to grab a win this weekend before the long weekend break, with the Warriors hosting the Blues in a grand final rematch, and Yass taking on the Sharks.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 46 d Queanbeyan Blues 26

The Bulldogs showcased their blistering attack as they blew the Blues right off the park at Seiffert Oval on Saturday, scoring ten tries in 80 minutes.

The Cornish brothers were front and centre in their dominant performance, linking up on both sides of the ruck to score points.

The Blues had far too many mistakes in them as they tried to build into the game but just lacked the combinations of their opposition.

Goulburn will look to defend their undefeated away record, when they take on the Bulls this Saturday.

Meanwhile, it doesn't get any easier for the Blues, travelling away to take on an in-form West Belconnen side.
