Round eight action in the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup came to a close on Saturday afternoon, with the Kangaroos, Sharks, Blues and Bulldogs all grabbing important wins ahead of the long weekend break.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 44 d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 10

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos have extended their winning streak out to seven after yet another dominant performance at home on Saturday.

Harry Quinlan was one of the many stars on show, crossing for a hatrick of tries on the right-edge for the Roos.

The Bushies defence was tested early, defending their line for countless sets before the floodgates eventually opened, conceding six tries in 22 minutes.

Queanbeyan will now enter the long weekend bye in first position on 14 competition points, including an astounding for and against of 196 after only seven games.

Belconnen United Sharks 44 d Yass Magpies 14

The Sharks have bounced back after a two-match losing streak to grab an important home victory for the first time this season.

The match was set-up in the first half when Belconnen piled on 36 points to take a commanding lead into the break.

Sonny Tupuola was one of the Sharks best, proving to be a force on the left-edge as he bagged a hatrick in the first half.

Yass showed glimpses of attack in the second half but will be disappointed as they succumb to their third straight defeat.

Saturday's big victory proved to be all that more important for Belconnen, who remain in the top eight tied on 8 competition points.

Queanbeyan Blues 20 d West Belconnen Warriors 18

The Queanbeyan Blues have collected their most important win of their season, knocking off West Belconnen in a two-point thriller at Raiders Belconnen.

In a rematch of last year's grand final, the Blues got their revenge as they grinded out a season-defining win on the road.

It was a surprising result for many as the Blues stood up to the Warriors forward pack, grinding out for the 80-minutes.

The Warriors had a chance to tie the game in the dying minutes through a Bradon Withers try but were unable to convert from near the sideline.

Although the Blues won't get it any easier, taking on the undefeated Kangaroos next round in the Queanbeyan derby.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 52 d Gungahlin Bulls 10

The Bulldogs have continued their undefeated streak while on the road, putting an impressive 52 points on Gungahlin on Saturday.

Goulburn, who now leapfrog into second place on the competition ladder, looked at their brilliant best again on Saturday as they piled nine tries on the Bulls.

It comes for disappointment for the Bulls who now fall to their second straight defeat after looking to turn their fortunes around.
