Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 5 Wrap

The Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield competition ladder remains very tight, after round five action came to a close as we enter the long weekend bye.

Gungahlin Bulls 74 d Goulburn City Bulldogs 0

The Bulls have extended their undefeated streak to five from five to begin their inaugural KFS season.

This comes after a statement victory over Goulburn, defeating them 74-nil on their home turf on Saturday.

Gungahlin fullback Caitlin Turnbull continues her dominant try scoring record, extending her tally for the season to 15 after crossing for four tries on the weekend.

Tijana Zdravevska joins her teammate in the top three in tries scored this season, after crossing for a hattrick.

Goulburn will turn the drawing board after falling to their worst loss of the year.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 62 d Queanbeyan Kangaroos 0

The Bushrangers have bounced back from their tough start of the season to go two in a row, defeating the Roos 62-0 on Saturday.

Tuggeranong would be pleased with the effort they've showed over the opening five rounds of the competition, but particularly holding UC and Queanbeyan scoreless in their past two weeks.

The Bushies piled on 13 tries on the Kangaroos, displaying their strong attack and rock-solid defence.

Backrower Jayde Smith bagged a hattrick while eight different tryscorers crossed the line for Tuggeranong in an enormous team effort.

The Kangaroos will relish the long weekend bye round and eye off grabbing their first win in the round six Queanbeyan derby.

West Belconnen Warriors 48 d Queanbeyan Blues 10

The Warriors have continued their strong form in their inaugural KFS season, dominating Queanbeyan in a 48-10 performance.

West Belconnen were in-charge from start to finish, holding a strong 22-4 lead at the halftime break.

Warriors' captain Zali Waihape bagged a double alongside teammates Wendy Edwards and Grace Tai, as the team racked up 10 tries.

The Blues were gallant in defeat as the club continue to battle absences from key members of the squad.

Woden Valley Rams 42 d UC Stars 10

The Rams have bagged their first win of the season in a huge victory over the UC Stars at Boomanulla Oval.

After a difficult start to the season, the reigning KFS runners up have broken their win drought in great fashion, piling eight tries on the Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

The Stars were able to cross over twice through Mara Brophy and Grace Ko but it was all one way traffic from there as Woden grabbed an important win.

Woden will now prepare for their south side rivalry with Tuggeranong while UC will chase their first win against Westies.
