Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 9 Wrap

Round nine action in the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw the Kangaroos, Bulldogs, Rams, and Sharks grab important wins and a spot within the top four.

Woden Valley Rams 24 d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 22

The Rams were able to repel a second-half surge by the Bushrangers to earn a crucial win.

The Rams took control of the game early, commanding a 24 – 0 lead by halftime.

The Bushrangers showed resilience as they scored 22 consecutive points in the second half.

Samuel Gash proved to be the difference with a 100% conversion rate and a great defensive effort to prevent the match-winning try.

Belconnen United Sharks 26 d West Belconnen Warriors 10

The Sharks earned their second consecutive win after defeating their hometown rivals.

The Sharks looked their best as they overcame the Warrior’s strong defence, passing them on the ladder to enter the top four.

West Belconnen started the match hot scoring two early tries, but their attack stalled out in the second half.

The Sharks will host freshly rested Gungahlin next week while the Warriors have the bye.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 34 d Queanbeyan Blues 14

The Kangaroos remain undefeated during their 2023 campaign, taking down the Blues in a hard-fought affair.

The Blues defended their line well, but penalties gave the Kangaroos’ potent attack the opportunities they needed.

Harry Quinlan was the standout player, having his second consecutive multi-try game. Quinlan continues to lead the way in the try scoring leaderboards, sitting on top with 12 tries in eight games.

The Blues will look to return to the winners circle next week as they take on the Bushrangers.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 44 d Yass Magpies 30

Goulburn extends their win streak to three after defeating the Magpies in a high-scoring affair.

The Bulldogs’ strong attack once again took centre stage, producing eight tries on the day.

Standouts Dillon Rota and Max Flack both crossed over twice for the Bulldogs in the winning effort.

The Magpies maintained pace with Goulburns’ attack for most of the match, but it was not enough as they succumbed to their fourth straight loss.

The Bulldogs will turn their attention to next week as they travel to Queanbeyan to take on the Kangaroos in a top-of-the-table clash.
