Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 7 Preview

The Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield resumes for round seven of the competition, headlined by a grand final rematch between Woden and Yass on Saturday morning.

Woden Valley Rams v Yass Magpies, 9:20am, Saturday 24 June at Phillip Oval

The Rams will play host to the Magpies in a rematch of last year's KFS Grand Final, where Woden will look for revenge at home this Saturday.

After a tough start to the year, the Rams come into this clash with some form, securing two consecutive wins over UC and the Bushies.

Meanwhile, the Magpies continue to press their dominance on the rest of the competition, closing in on two years since their last defeat in the KFS.

Yass enter this match off the back of a strong 50-0 victory over Goulburn last weekend.

Gungahlin Bulls v UC Stars, 11:45am, Saturday 24 June at Kaleen Enclosed Oval

Gungahlin will host the UC Stars this Saturday at Kaleen, hoping to extend their win streak out to seven from seven to start the year.

The Bulls have looked like the team to beat in 2023, which is incredible considering it's their inaugural season in the competition.

UC on the other hand have struggled with injury to start their campaign and will look to put their best foot forward against a dominant Bulls outfit.

Gungahlin fullback Caitilin Turnbull continues to be a try scoring machine, now sitting all alone on 19 tries, the next closest being on six.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos v Goulburn City Bulldogs, 11:50am, Saturday 24 June at Seears Workwear Oval

The Kangaroos will return home to host the Goulburn City Bulldogs in a bid to secure their very first KFS win of the season.

In what has been a struggling debut season for the Roos, they've continued to improve over the first seven weeks of the competition.

Goulburn enter this contest after two heavy defeats from the hands of Yass and Gungahlin, conceding a total of 124 points in the last two weeks.

After a disruptive season, either side have been able to cross the chalk since round three, meaning this clash could come down to what side can get their attack going early.

Queanbeyan Blues v Tuggeranong Bushrangers, 12:00pm, Saturday 24 June at Seiffert Oval

The Blues will play host to the Tuggeranong Bushrangers in a potentially season-defining clash as both sides are tied on six points.

The Blues bounced right back from their heavy defeat to West Belconnen a fortnight ago to put 81 points on the Roos in the Queanbeyan derby.

While the Bushies continue to roll along, grabbing successive wins before falling to Woden by 8-points last weekend.

This match shapes up to be a huge one as both sides will battle out for a spot in the top five.

Harden Hawks v West Belconnen Warriors, 1:30pm, Saturday 24 June at McLean Oval

Harden will take plenty away from their tight defeat to the undefeated Bulls last weekend, when they host West Belconnen on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks' 30-12 defeat last weekend meant they have come the closest to the Bulls of any side so far in the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, West Belconnen have travelled along nicely in their inaugural season, sitting in third position with only the one loss all year.

This clash shapes up to be a thriller with both sides looking to grab an important two competition points.
