Raiders get job done at home with tight win over Titans

The Toyota Forklift Raiders have claimed a tight 26-22 win over the Gold Coast Titans at GIO Stadium Canberra.

The Titans set up a grandstand finish after scoring with a couple of minutes left, but the home side were able to hold on for victory.

The Raiders were the first ones in over the line off the kickoff just a minute in with a try on the wing to Albert Hopoate after a no-look pass from Jarrod Croker.

Jarrod Croker successfully converted the try which had the Raiders in front 6-0.

The Raiders were in again after a back and forth sixteen minutes full of errors for both sides. Sebastian Kris was able to tower over and grab the ball mid-air, and put the ball down in goal.

Another Jarrod Croker conversion had scores sitting at 12-0 in the 17th minute.

The Titans hit back in with a try to David Fifita in the 22nd minute off the back of a penalty to the Titans for a crusher tackle.

Tanah Boyd successfully kicked the conversion for the Titans which had scores 12-6 in favour of the Raiders.

After an unsuccessful try from the Titans, the scoreline stood 12-6 to the Raiders going into halftime.

The Titans were the first to score in the second half just two minutes in with a try to Jojo Fifita on the wing.

The conversion from the Titans was unsuccessful which left scores 12-10 to the Raiders.

After an error from the Titans Matthew Timoko scored a beautiful length of the field try in the 49th minute.

Jarrod Croker was successful on the boot again converting the try which brought scores 18-10 to the Raiders.

The Titans were next on the board with a try in the 62nd minute for winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira.

Tanah Boyd kicked the conversion which left just a two-point lead for the Raiders.

But the Raiders looked to seal the deal in with a powerful pushover from Hudson Young in the 73rd minute which put the Raiders six points in front.

Another successful conversion from Jarrod Croker made the score 24-16 in favour of the Raiders.

A penalty conversion from Jarrod Croker in the final minutes of the game was the icing on the cake for the Raiders Leaving the score 26-16.

But the Titans had not finished their night with Tino Fa’asuamaleaui going in under the post for a try in the dying minutes.

With a quick conversion to follow from Tanah Boyd, it had scores sitting at 26-22 to the Raiders with just a minute and a half left.

But it was too little too late from the Titans with the Raiders winning 26-22.
