Raiders NSW Cup side hold on to claim tight win over Panthers

The Raiders NSW Cup team have taken out a hard fought injury filled game defeating the Panthers 22-18 at GIO Stadium Canberra. 

Matt Frawley kept the team calm and controlled in the most important times of the game pushing the side to another win.

The Panthers were the first on the board with Chris Smith going in for a try after a back-and-forth battle for the first fourteen minutes of the game.

Kurt Falls converted the try which had the score at 6-0 to the Panthers.

The Raiders were left without Michael Asomua who went off for a HIA and shortly after that, Elijah Anderson's afternoon finished early with a knee injury.

The Raiders were the next over the line with a try to Chevy Stewart who pounced on the ball just before the dead ball line in the 24th minute.

Xavier Savage converted the try which left the score 6-6.

But the Raiders did not stop there on the brink of half-time in the 38th minute Raiders Captain Matt Frawley went under the post after a hard fought set from the side.

Along with the conversion from Xavier Savage, the Raiders led the Panthers at half-time 12-6.

The Raiders were first to put points on the board in the second half with Ethan Strange going over following a line break from Clay Webb that opened up the Panthers defensive line.

Savage successfully converted for the Raiders which brought scores 18-6 to the Raiders.

The Raiders were not done there just three minutes later in the 48th minute Clay Webb ran over the line after a penalty earlier in the set.

After an unsuccessful conversion from Savage, the scores remained at 22-6.

The Panthers hit back in the 55th minute with a try on the wing to David Fale which put the Panthers back into the game.

The successful conversion from Kurt Falls left scores 22-12 to the Raiders.

The Panthers were in again in the 62nd minute with Mavrick Geyer breaking the Raiders defensive line right under the posts.

Kurt Falls was able to successfully convert the try which had scores locked in at 22-18 to the Raiders.

The Raiders were able to hold off the Panthers and keep the scores at 22-18 at fulltime.
