NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 20 Preview

The NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Raiders teams will be going into round 20 with wins under their belt from last weekend.

The NSW Cup Raiders will be taking on the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles on Sunday at HE Laybutt Field in Sydney, while the Jersey Flegg Raiders will take on the West Tigers at Lidcombe Oval also on Sunday.

NSW Cup

The Raiders will be kicking off against the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles at 3pm on Sunday hoping to continue their winning ways.

The Raiders are coming off a 24-20 win over the Dragons last weekend, edging themselves higher on the ladder before the run home for finals.

The team has had a few changes going into this round as Adrian Trevilyan, Matt Frawley, Mitchell Spencer, Peter Hola, and Trey Mooney all come into the side.

It will be Trevilyan’s first game of the year after recovering from an ACL injury sustained at training late in the 2022 season.

Nick Cotric will replace injured fullback Xavier Savage this week after Savage suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the game in last week’s win.

Cotric was able to show off his abilities playing fullback during that game, scoring a try in the final six minutes of the game to defeat the Dragons.

The Raiders are currently sit in fifth position with the Sea Eagles side not too far behind them in seventh place trailing by three points.

The Sea Eagles are coming off a tough loss to the Bears, going down 30-16 last weekend.

The Sea Eagles have also had several changes to their line-up heading into this game with Ben Condon, Cooper Johns, Jordan Main, Kaeo Weekes, and Samuela Fainu all into the team.

The last time these two sides met was in round 12 this year where the Sea Eagles defeated the Raiders side 19-12.

This will be a tight game with both teams hoping to etch their place in the top end of the ladder.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders side will take on the West Tigers this Sunday for a 2pm kick-off at Lidcombe Oval in Sydney.

The Raiders side will be feeling energetic after another win last weekend against the Dragons defeating them 20-16.

The Raiders have had a few changes to their side with Jake Clydsdale, Jaxon Lavender, Jayden Clarkson, Mitch Henderson, and Toby Thorburn all into the side with most moving back into Jersey Flegg after playing in NSW Cup last week.

The side are still sitting in 12th position on the ladder but will be looking to move their way up as they are just two points behind their opponents this week in the Tigers, who are sitting in 10th place.

The Tigers are also coming off the back of a win last week after defeating the Knights 24-16.

The Tigers, like the Raiders, have had a few changes for this weekend’s game with Heath Mason, Josh Feledy, and Trey Peni coming into the side for Compton Fuatimau, Joseph Delle, and Mitchell Chester.

The last time these sides met was in round 22 of last year where the Tigers defeated the Raiders 32-24.
