A great weekend for our NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides after they both recorded crucial wins over the Knights at Raiders Belconnen on Sunday afternoon.

NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup team notched up an important two points with a 36-24 win over the Knights on Sunday.

The win sees the Raiders finish the round in eighth spot on the ladder, but are only two points behind the second placed Warriors in what is an incredibly tight ladder.

The Raiders jumped out to an 18-0 lead after 30 minutes against the Knights, with Clay Webb, Trey Mooney and Mitchell Spencer all scoring and Chevy Stewart converting all three tries.

The Knights hit back with a try to Jack Johns and conversion to Lachlan Miller, with the half-time score 18-6.

Raiders winger James Schiller scored a couple minutes into the second half before Stewart scored a try of his own and converted to extend the home side's lead to 28-6.

The Knights got one back through Dylan Lucas but again the Raiders hit back through Harley Smith-Shields and Matt Frawley, bringing the score to 36-12.

Two tries in the final five minutes for the Knights narrowed the score-line gap but it was too little too late as the Raiders claimed the two points.

The Raiders take on the Western Suburbs Magpies at 3pm this Saturday 5 August at Raiders Belconnen.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders Jersey Flegg team remain in the hunt for a top five finish after a come-from-behind 26-20 win over the Knights at Raiders Belconnen.

The Raiders finish the round in 10th position on the ladder on 22 points, but are just two points behind the fifth placed Storm.

They will need to win their remaining four games and have some results go their way to play finals footy.

The Raiders trailed 10-0 after 15 minutes against the Knights, before centre Prinston Esera scored for the home side. Mitch Henderson converted to bring the half-time score to 10-6.

Jahoiyakim Afoa opened the scoring in the second half for the Knights, extending his side's lead to eight points.

But the Raiders were able to regain the momentum, with Esera scoring his second try of the day before Josh Billing scored just three minutes later.

Henderson converted both tries to give the Raiders an 18-14 lead.

Esera got his hat-trick in the 48th minute to make the score 22-14 in favour of the home side.

A try to Knights second rower Brock Greacen and conversion to Afoa made it a two point ball-game, but a try to Shaun Packer put the Raiders ahead 26-20.

The Raiders were able to hold on to claim the important win.

They take on the Wests Tigers this Saturday 5 August at Raiders Belconnen, kicking off at 1:15pm.
