This entertaining weekend of KFS footy saw an abundance of tries, and an exciting upset as each side tries to find form before finals.
Tier 1
West Belconnen Warriors 46 d Gungahlin Bulls 14
With the Gungahlin Bulls sitting on top of the ladder, the Westies came into this clash as the underdogs, but they did not disappoint as they tried to prove themselves to the competition heavyweights.
The Warriors opened the scoring first through a dominant double by Crystal Papali’i, charging over the Bulls defence to score two tries by the seventh minute to give her side an early 12-0 lead.
Gungahlin rallied together and replied in the 10th minute thanks to a great run by halfback Makayla Morris, splitting the Bulls defence to find Matisse McNair on the wing.
The Westies did not let this shift in momentum last long, running in two more unanswered tries through centre Chioma Enyi, and second rower Rosaline Aumale.
Gungahlin tried to claw their way back into the game, with Takira Gaspari scoring just before the break to leave the scoreboard reading 22-8 at halftime.
Belconnen continued to dominate the second half, running in five tries to Gungahlin’s one, with Crystal Papali’i completing her hattrick, helping the Westies defeat the Bulls 46-14.
Yass Magpies 52 d Goulburn City Bulldogs 4
Yass returned to the winners circle this weekend, after being narrowly defeated by Westies last round 28-24.
Yass recorded a dominant 52-4 victory this weekend when they hit the road and took on the Goulburn City Bulldogs in Goulburn.
It was a comfortable win for the Magpies, with Lucy Prosser scoring a hattrick, and Samara Afele competing a double.
The Magpies now sit in second place on the ladder and will look to carry this momentum into their next match as they hope to find form before finals.
Tier 2
Tuggeranong Bushrangers 26 d Harden Worhawks 22
Harden hosted the Bushies this weekend in a close battle, falling short to the visitors 26-22.
Tuggeranong were able to get a narrow four-point victory and cause an upset on Saturday, making it two wins in a row as they look to put their best foot forward with finals approaching.
The Worhawks were the favourites heading into this match, with Bethany Loco scoring a double.
Unfortunately for the hosts this wasn’t enough, with Bushies front rower Nirvana Ngan-Woo completing a hattrick to help her side get over the line.
Nicky Davies has a crucial impact for the Bushies, kicking three out of four conversions to lock in an important victory.
