NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 25 Wrap

The Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams have had a successful weekend with both teams defeating the Bulldogs on Saturday.

NSW Cup

The NSW Cup side defeated the Bulldogs 40-12 on Saturday at Raiders Belconnen to help cement their finals chances.

The win puts the Raiders in fourth place on the ladder with one game remaining in the season before finals.

Xavier Savage stole the show on his return game from a hamstring injury, scoring a hat-trick that helped put the team over the line.

The Bulldogs were the first ones to put points on the board with a try ten minutes in for Ethan Quai-Ward.

But Savage had two answers for the Bulldogs scoring seven minutes later and then scoring again in the 23rd minute.

The Green Machine had their job cut out for them but managed to score another with a try from Luke Webley in the 29th minute of the game.

The Bulldogs scored just before half-time in the 33rd minute with a try from Jeral Skelton.

As the teams went into the sheds at half-time it was still anybody’s game with the score 18-8 in favour of the Raiders.

But the Raiders knew the importance of winning the game and came out and scored four tries in the second half while the Bulldogs were only able to get away with one in the 72nd minute.

The Raiders side will now take on the first-place North Sydney Bears in the last regular game of the season which will be another must-win for the Raiders as they look forward to the finals.

Jersey Flegg

The Jersey Flegg Raiders defeated the Bulldogs in a convincing 32-10 win.

The side unfortunately will not make finals sitting in eighth position four points out of the top five.

The Raiders were the first ones to put points on the board with Kane Rushton powering over the line in the 14th minute.

The Bulldogs were over the line next in the 26th minute after a hard-fought 12 minutes when William Afualo went in for the Bulldogs making scores even.

But the Raiders were not wanting to go into halftime even, scoring in the 30th minute through Josh Billing.

Much like the NSW Cup side, the team scored three tries in the second half with the Bulldogs only getting through for one try in the 63rd minute.

Mitch Henderson was the star of the show for the Raiders kicking five from five conversions as well as a penalty goal.

The Jersey Flegg Raiders will now take on the Melbourne Storm on Saturday in Melbourne.
