The Canberra Raiders have re-signed hooker Tom Starling on a new deal, which will see him remain with the club until the end of the 2025 season.
The Raiders have also signed Newcastle utility Simi Sasagi on a two-year deal for 2024-2025.
Tom Starling, Raider #362, made his debut for the Raiders in 2019 and has played 82 matches for the club since then.
Starling said he’s excited about extending his time with the Raiders and believes the squad will continue to build over the next few years.
“I’ve absolutely loved my time at the Raiders and in Canberra and I’m very excited I can add another two years with the club,” Starling said. “We’ve got a really great group of talented players here in Canberra and I know we’ll keep improving over the next few seasons and I’m keen to be a part of that.”
Simi Sasagi, 22, will arrive in Canberra for the commencement of the 2024 pre-season and will add depth and skill to the clubs NRL squad.
Raiders Recruitment Manager Joel Carbone said Sasagi is a player with plenty of potential and would be a welcome addition to the Raiders NRL squad.
“Simi is a talented young player who will get an opportunity to join us next year and further his career. The way the game is going, it is essential to have players with utility value in your squad. Simi has shown that so far in his short career – being able to play Lock Forward, Five-Eighth, Centre and even Hooker,” Carbone said. “We’re looking forward to him joining us for the pre-season next year and wish him all the best for the remainder of this season with Newcastle.”
