Week one of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup finals series brought plenty of fire as the Sharks eliminated the reigning premiers to meet Queanbeyan in this weekend's prelim.
Tuggeranong Bushrangers 18 d Queanbeyan Kangaroos 13
The Tuggeranong Bushrangers have gone straight to the grand final after defeating the Kangaroos on Sunday.
Despite the Bushrangers having a side in different positions and going down with a few injuries during the game they managed to come out on top.
Both sides came out strong in what looked to be a tough game early with the halftime score sitting at 13-6 in favour of the Roos.
The Bushrangers shined in the second half and controlled the game well holding Queanbeyan scoreless in the half.
The Bushrangers Bradley Buckley was the one to seal the deal in the final twenty minutes scoring a powerful try.
It was a back-and-forth battle for the last fifteen minutes of the game with both sides going over for disallowed tries.
The Roos chances are not over yet, and they will now play the Belconnen United Sharks next Sunday at Raiders Belconnen.
Tuggeranong will sit tight and see who they verse in the grand final at Seiffert Oval in two weeks’ time.
Belconnen United Sharks 30 d West Belconnen Warriors 28
The Belconnen United Sharks have powered through to the next round of finals after a thrilling two-point win.
The first half consisted of great footy from both sides with Warriors Brandon Withers looking hot after scoring the two tries for Westies.
The halftime score as the sides went into the sheds was 12-10 in favour of the Sharks with both sides still very involved.
It was an all-out battle with the Warriors in front for the majority of the second half but a try in the dying minutes along with a beautiful conversion from Jack Beagley brought it home for the Sharks.
The Sharks will now face the minor premiers in the Queanbeyan Roos next weekend at Raiders Belconnen.
While the West Belconnen Warriors season is now over.
