It's do or die for the Queanbeyan Kangaroos and the Belconnen United Sharks as they face off in our Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup Preliminary Final on Sunday.
In last weeks eliminator final, our Belconnen rivals went head-to-head in a tightly contested and hard fought game with neither side leaving anything on the park.
The Warriors were leading 28-24 with three minutes left until the Sharks got over the line to tie the game up.
Sharks halfback Jack Beagley nailed the conversion, bringing the final score to 30-28, securing Belconnen United's first finals win in a decade, and advancing his side to the Preliminary Final.
The following day, the minor premiers' Queanbeyan Kangaroos hosted the Tuggeranong Bushrangers in our major semifinal.
The Roos led 13-6 at halftime, but with grit and determination the Bushrangers were able to keep their opponents scoreless in the second half, while also scoring two of their own, securing an 18-13 win and heading straight to the Grand Final.
The Roos use up their lifeline when they face the Sharks on Sunday.
The last time these two sides met in round 17, Queanbeyan dominated Belconnen United 44-8.
With their backs against the wall last week, the Sharks showed they won't fade away from the contest in games where everything is on the line.
The Roos, disappointed in their performance last week, come into this game with a chip on their shoulder as they will want to avoid the embarrassment of getting bounced out in straight sets after dominating all year and finishing atop the table.
