Junior Reps Wrap: Round Five

The Raiders junior rep sides went down in all three grades in Saturday afternoon's round five action at Kirkham Oval, Camden.

SG Ball Cup

The Raiders went down to the Magpies 20-18 in around five thriller of the SG Ball Cup.

The Magpies jumped out to a 14-nil lead at halftime, leaving an up-hill battle in front of the Raiders for the second half.

Woden Valley Rams juniors' Xavier Cacciotti and Ethan Alaia crossed for consecutive tries to close the gap to 14-12.

Magpies winger Daniel Waqa crossed eight minutes later to close the game and give Wests an important two points.

The Raiders will now return home in another important match-up against Penrith this Saturday.

Harold Matthews Cup

The Raiders HM Cup side were competitive but ultimately went down 36-12 to the current first placed Magpies.

The Magpies flew out of the gates, jumping out to an 18-nil lead after 20 minutes.

Subsequent tries to Lochie Ellard and Cooper Johnston brought the scores to 18-12 with the Raiders carrying plenty of momentum.

The top of the table Magpies responded, scoring three of their own to close out the victory at home.

The Raiders will head back to Raiders Belconnen this week to face the Panthers as they look to bounce back.

Tarsha Gale Cup

The Raiders Tarsha Gale Cup side suffered a tough 18-12 defeat to the Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers came out firing, crossing for two tries to lead 12-nil after six minutes.

Raiders five-eighth Imojean Vea crossed for Canberra's first try, trailing 12-6 at the halftime break.

The damage was done early as the Tigers tallied another two tries in the second half to hold on and win 18-12.

Canberra will round out this Saturday's triple header at Raiders Belconnen, now turning their attention to Penrith in round six of the season.
