Each artist brings a unique perspective to the design, integrating symbols and motifs that represent the diverse heritages of the players and their communities.

Muti Palu, drawing from his Tongan heritage, shares his insights into the significance of the Kupesi patterns featuring on the tee (top right of the tee). These patterns, deeply rooted in Tongan cosmology, serve as a visual narrative of Tongan culture, depicting stories of unity, family, and connection to the land and sea.

Alaivaa Lauvao, proud of his Samoan heritage, pays homage to his roots through the intricate patterns on the tee (top left side). Inspired by the rich tapestry of Samoan culture, Lauvao’s designs speak to the interconnectedness of past, present, and future, celebrating the resilience and strength of Pacific Island communities.

Zahara Temara, representing the Māori community, incorporated her designs with the spirit of whanau (family) and connection. She says,

“The two things that I love about the club are – family and connection. The patterns represent exactly that. The big Koru represents the club and the korus that branch off that represents the groups within the club all their own koru but they’re connected to make one.”

The run out tee also features a diverse array of patterns and symbols, ranging from the Yorkshire Rose of England to Serbian, Ukrainian, and Irish patterns. Each element reflects the unique background and experiences of the squad.

The Ukrainian design pays homage to Ukrainian culture through the traditional Pysanky design, commonly associated with Easter egg decoration.

Adorning the sleeve is the Celtic Trinity Knot, revered as one of the oldest symbols of spirituality. The Triquetra is showcased within a circle, representing the interconnectedness of life and eternity.

Additionally, it features a subtle tribute to the Indigenous players, showcasing their flags on the back of the tee in recognition of their dedicated round in Round 12.

The shirt will be worn in training ahead of the Raiders’ Multicultural Round match against the Warriors on Friday.
