The 2024 Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup is set to continue in style this week, with four exciting match ups following a thrilling opening round.
Woden Valley Rams vs Goulburn City Bulldogs, 3:00pm Sunday at Phillip Oval
This weeks match of the round features an exciting Sunday clash between the Woden Valley Rams and the Goulburn City Bulldogs visiting Phillip Oval.
After a disappointing season in 2023 which saw the Rams unable to qualify for finals, they will be riding high on confidence after claiming a demanding 30-6 victory against last years grand finalists, the Tuggeranong Bushrangers, last weekend.
"Always helps having a win first up, always good against the 'Bush' [Bushrangers], it's our rivalry," said Rams prop Jeff Morgan.
"Any team on their day in this comp can win, and we need to treat each game like that."
A strong 2023 season for the Bulldogs last year saw the side narrowly miss out finals.
With the Bulldogs coming off a tight loss against the Yass Magpies 32-28, they will be sure to use this as the fire in their belly this weekend.
"If we stick to our game plan and do the little things right, we can beat anyone in the comp," said Bulldogs prop Harry Newman.
Tuggeranong Bushrangers vs West Belconnen Warriors, 3:00pm Saturday at Greenway Oval
The West Belconnen Warriors will be travelling to play the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at home this weekend.
After suffering a 30-6 loss to the Woden Valley Rams last week, there’s no doubt the Tuggeranong Bushrangers will be looking to bounce back stronger in front of a home crowd on Saturday.
Following a week-one wash out and a bye last week, this match will mark the West Belconnen Warrior’s first game of the season.
After a strong year in 2023, the Warrior’s will be itching to finally get onto the field to try kick off this season with a victory against last year’s grand finalists.
Belconnen United Sharks vs Queanbeyan Blues, 3:00pm Saturday at NSWRL HQ Bruce
The Belconnen United Sharks will be looking to impress the crowds at home as they face the Queanbeyan Blues on Saturday afternoon.
Last week’s high scoring 38-10 win against the Gungahlin Bulls has placed the Sharks at the top of the ladder, there’s no doubt they will be keen to keep this place with another victory this weekend.
Fresh off a 32-all draw against the reigning premiers, the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, the Blues will be gunning with confidence for a win this weekend at NSWRL HQ Bruce.
With both teams touted for success in 2024, this game is sure to be an exciting watch.
Yass Magpies vs Gungahlin Bulls, 3:00pm Saturday at Walker Park
Gungahlin Bulls will be travelling further north this weekend as they face the Yass Magpies at Walker Park.
Gungahlin will be eager to prove themselves this week, after suffering a 38-10 loss to the Sharks last weekend at Jamison Enclosed Oval.
Meanwhile, the Yass Magpies will be looking to carry over their strong form, after claiming a tight 32-28 victory against the Goulburn City Bulldogs last weekend at Workers Arena.
Both teams will be hungry for redemption this season, after a disappointing 2023 season which saw the Gungahlin Bulls only claim three wins and the Magpies collecting the wooden spoon.
