Canberra Raiders Cup: Round Seven Wrap

A thrilling Round Seven of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw four closely contested matches across the region.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 16 defeat Queanbeyan Kangaroos 14

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers clinched victory over the Queanbeyan Kangaroos  with a two-point win over the weekend.

In a game where every point mattered, Bushrangers winger Jayden Pollard scored two of his sides three tries, including the match winner in the final two minutes.

Queanbeyan also crossed for three tries through Matthew Wheatley, Jake Kiely, and Thomas Williams, but the final scores were determined by goal kicking on the windy day.

The Kangaroos will look to cement their top four position coming up against the Yass Magpies. Meanwhile, Tuggeranong look to carry their momentum through when they face the Sharks.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 28 defeat Gungahlin Bulls 26

The Goulburn City Bulldogs have secured their first win of the season with a tight win over the Gungahlin Bulls.

The Bulldogs were off and running with Jesse Lacey crossing for a double, as well as Jai Purser, Tyler Greenwood and Buster Strickland also successful in reaching the try line to provide their side the edge.

After finding themselves trailing 24-0, an inspired Bulls comeback saw Tui Georgievski score before Earldric Pehara and Ethan Miller both crossed for doubles, but a missed conversion is what cost them.

Next round, Goulburn look to carry over confidence from this victory when they face the Warriors, whilst Gungahlin look ahead to a tough matchup against Woden.

Belconnen Sharks 32 defeat Yass Magpies 22

The Belconnen United Sharks secured a closely contested 10-point victory against the Yass Magpies over the weekend.

It was four tries a piece until deep into the second half when Belconnen United found a way to score two more and skip away with the win.

The Magpies never gave up on the contest with centre Lekani Mpaso being the standout, scoring a double for his side.

In round eight, the Sharks look to maintain this winning streak when they face the Bushrangers, while Yass focus their attention on the Kangaroos.

Queanbeyan Blues 34 defeat West Belconnen Warriors 22

The Queanbeyan Blues came back from well behind to beat the West Belconnen Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors got off to a healthy 22-6 lead into the second half with tries to Ryan McQueen, Taylor Withington, and two for Kylan Edwards.

However, the Blues didn't roll over and impressively went on to score five unanswered tries to run away with the win, including a Jack Anderson double.

Looking ahead to this weekend, the Warriors aim to bounce back against Goulburn, while the Blues will rest and recuperate with the bye.
