Canberra Raiders Prop Josh Papalii has been nominated for the 2024 Ken Stephen Medal for his continuous support for the Canberra community.
This prestigious award honours NRL players who excel not only on the field but also dedicate significant time to community projects off the field.
Josh has been active in the community space for several years, working with local organisations such as Win the Day and Menslink, to help them achieve recognition and outcomes for the work they do to support their causes. His efforts in the local community extend through his ongoing support for junior rugby league clubs, hospitals, and numerous local and national charities. He’s also about to launch a new business that helps people with disability.
Josh’s passion for youth development and advocacy for those with disabilities exemplifies his commitment to making a tangible difference in the community. He understands the support needed with adults and youth living with disabilities and prides himself on the impact that it can make supporting and caring for someone's needs.
Papalii said it is an honour to be nominated for this year’s Ken Stephen medal and said all he hopes from the nomination is to help raise awareness for the causes he supports.
“I’m in a very lucky position to use my profile as an NRL player to help some wonderful community organisations to do the work they do,” Papalii said. “If this nomination can help raise awareness and drive support for things like Win the Day and Menslink then that’s a great thing.”
“I’m also really excited about a new project I’m working on to help people with disabilities and we’re in the final stages of putting things together and launching. We’ll have some more information on this soon.”
“There’s a lot of people out there who need help and as NRL players we can support some important and great causes to help these people.”
