The Canberra Region Rugby League (CRRL) held its inaugural TackleReady Program graduation event for all Under 7's, marking a memorable day in their Rugby League journeys.
On Sunday, 32 of the 36 Under 7's teams in the CRRL gathered at Curtin Playing Fields for their final TackleReady Program session, before showcasing their skills in their first-ever game of tackle rugby league.
Each player received their personalised certificate of completion, representing an important milestone in their development as they move on to play tackle rugby league each week.
The remaining 4 teams will graduate this Saturday (29th) in Goulburn, marking all of CRRL's 339 Under 7's players as TackleReady graduates.
The TackleReady Program allows participants to learn correct and safe techniques, preparing them for the tackle version of Rugby League.
The six-session program is delivered by club-appointed TackleReady instructors who are trained and guided by NRL Development Officers, with the aim to increase player confidence and physical competence in all tackling situations.
TackleReady is part of the Player Development Framework which has three main objectives: attract and retain participation, foster personal development, and transition and nurture performance.
The graduation event proved to be a massive success, highlighting the significance of celebrating and recognising this pivotal milestone in their young rugby league journeys.
CRRL's General Manager Mark Vergano spoke to the success of the event and its importance for the CRRL community as a whole.
"The graduation event was a fantastic promotion in that all players, coaches, trainers and parents were able to celebrate, as a rugby league community, this important milestone in a players development," Vergano said.
"The display of all the club banners along with the presence of NSWRL CEO David Trodden, gave it a sense of occasion for all participants.
"As a football community we do not come together very often to celebrate, and this event allows everyone to see and understand that we are part of something bigger.
"The best promoters for the CRRL will be the kids who will tell everyone that they had fun, got to play with mates, and learnt to play like one of their favourite NRL or NRLW players.
"The Player Development Framework and TackleReady Program will upskill all players to be ready for contact and give parents a sense that the game is preparing players in a proper manner."
